    WIN 2000 PRO PW's

I "LEGALLY" purchased a system from my employer. It came with no disks whatsoever. I have a username and PW but not for administrator. I want to be king of this castle, but can't because i don't know the Admin. PW. I would get it from IT but they don't have a job anymore. Any help?

From a legal standpoint, you purchased the hardware from your employer, not the software.

You do not own your copy of win2k.

Obtain a legal copy, format the drive, reinstall the OS, and you're all set.

There are tools out ther to recover passwords, but the good ones cost more than a new MS license! I too would opt for getting the software and starting from scratch, then you will know the system inside out as it will really be yours.

Winternals are handy to have if you administer win32 systems, again they cost as much as the opreating system.

Try the Offline NT Password and Registry Editor. It's free, it works, and no one has to get nailed to a tree.

Your link is hacked. I would have mentioned Winternals but the last time I mentioned a brand name it got deleted. As far as Offline NT...what about those folks who password protect and set their bios to boot from C only?

Is that a policy? Lots of brands get tossed around in the forum. A search on slackware would return at least a hundred threads,

Actually... I think he just typo'd it: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ (seems to be working). I can't recommend this utility enough; it's saved my bacon from a reinstall many, many times.
