I am a Noob to Hacking, I know a bit about programming but not enough to pass as any good. I mainly do HTML, Java, and VBScript.

Can someone point me to a good source of begginner info? I have read a few books and checked out Hackoo.

Not to offend anyone but, is it safe to download the files and such from Hackoo? or better yet is it safe to get the CD they offer?

Not sure, I have read a bit about white hat, grey hat and black hat. I think I am more of a Grey Hat person myself, kind of a neutral evil or something.

I am mainly looking for something to pass the time, web programming is boring sometimes and Hacking looks extremely interesting.

Maybe your first step, then, would be to consider learning a real programming language.

Java != Javascript
HTML != Programming
VBScript == VB--

If you really meant Java (yes I'm being pessimistic about this one), then hopping over to C/C++ won't be too difficult.

Hackers don't wear hats.

Please refrain from uses media buzz words. It's annoying.

The difference between white hat and black hat is about .75 seconds. Thats how long it takes for an otherwise law abiding person to get pissed off and commit a felony.


Its' ok to be a n00b, just don't act like one.

Programming != hacking.
cracking warez != hacking
Buiding stuff != hacking
Your operating system != hacking
writing/using scripts != hacking

State of mind == hacking
