Interesting tid bit I heard on Spastic Audio last night (see outrage thread)

The kid planted the stuff on the planes 5 weeks before sending an email about it.

He should be given an investigative job, but then we know that's not how the system works.

If so every script kiddie would be living out their wildest fantasy of getting ired by teh company who web page they defaced.

Though he was showing the Mack truck sized hole that still persists in airport security, the powers that be are going to shoot the messenger, rather than acknowledging that a 20 year old was able to defeat fath...I mean Homeland security and that they screwed up.

He should be commended for illustrating the problem, but condemed for his methods.

This kid is going to get dragged over the coals and that will unfortunatly cause a chilling effect on anyone who notices a lapse in security from reporting it (His email was originally belived to be a hoax and ignored BTW). Your quite right Shatter, it does sound familiar.

Shooting the messenger is the new policy.

Sorta like shoplifting froma store to prove they have no security. Then you find out they do.

What is scary is anyone who BELIEVES that TSA is a solution in the first place!

          Here's what I dearly love....

The whole origin of airline metal detectors was that they didn't want a gun on a plane because if it went off, it cold depressrize the cabin.

          That's it.

Back in the 80's I actually has a box cutter in my pocket cause I used one constantly on teh box. Even has my name scribed it in. Security didn't give a shit.

Course if it had scribed "THE SAW IS FAMILY" they might have gotten pset.... ;)

I was accually pondering doing this with a ceramic knife (one you could get at king-of-knifes and the like for $80). But looks like what I thought would happen, happend.

Although, I didn't plan on getting on any planes, just past the metal detctor's and asking for the head security guy to show where the big hole is.

Unles syou order one that's specifically for Police/Military (ID required) they all have a metal strip implanted in them so they will set off detectors.

I, on the other hand, though about making a knife from lexan (plexiglass) and leaveing it under the seat when leaving on a cattlecall flight. Just to point out how stupid it all is. It woldn't get through xray (neither would ceramic) but it would pass the metal detector.

its funny how people made a big fuss on how crappy airport security was and that they werent doing their jobs. When in fact you could take a box cutter on an airplane and fingernail clippers etc.

just make a pen knife or one out of a tooth brush.
you can always kister it like they do in jail.
even a sharp pencil will do the trick.
