Amen to that. I certainly have never been a fan. Unfortunately, the majority of my scorn will always be directed at RMS, for infecting the world with an incomprehensible license so ambiguous that it escapes all litigious interpretation, and thus we are either doomed to accept the FSF's interpretation (which is lacking in a number of respects, namely as to whether or not dynamic linking constitutes a derived work) or are forced to wait for a court ruling.

As for the logo, I'm an enormous fan of Life, and I'm glad to see something like Life suggested as the basis of a hacker logo. Perhaps one of the greatest hacks of all time is the implementation of a Universal Turing Machine in Life:
