Just curious, why is the "Politics and Religion" forum closed?

Mainly because thats not the intent of these forums. People tend to go from calm to screaming in about 2 posts when those topics are brought up. We're far more interested in seeing topics discussing technology (which can, and frequently do, lean towards politics or religion). Your recent threads are prime examples of the type of discussion we want to see. If you want to play 'immoveable object vs. irresistable force" on topics like abortion or our current government, there are many places to find those kinds of conversations on the Internet. First and foremost, the purpose of this forum is to disucss 'hacking', security, and technology.
