    okay I see what you are all saying about 802.11g now but what is a cheap and good 802.11g Wireless Access Point? I don't need router function I already have that

              I'm going to suggest that you get a router as opposed to an AP. The reasoning for this is that if anything ever happens to whatever you're presently using as your router, you've got an instant backup device while you rebuild the downed one. Just something to think about.

                Also, the router maybe can be used as a firewall, so in essence partitioning off that part of the network, so if your wifi is compromised, they couldnt mess with the rest of your network. This only applies to casual connectors, not people out for blood.
