    Island - For Sale

    With the bad news of the latest happenings on the Island
    nation on Niue http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/sundays...4a6005,00.html

    and with the many people who live there wanting to move to NZ.

    Perhaps now would be that time for a large company with big
    $$$ to buy out the island nation and turn it into the next Haven Co. (One that is 1.5x the size of Washington DC)

    Stupid people should have to wear signs that just say, "I'm Stupid." That way you wouldn't rely on them, would you? You wouldn't ask them anything. It would be like, "Excuse me...oops...never mind, I didn't see your sign.

        More Info:

        1. They have no relations with the US
        2. They are not members of any US lead treaties (WIPO)
        3. There Main source of Income is a yearly "Donation" from NZ of 2.6Mil
        4. They only have a deficet ok around 500k
        5. There are only about 1k people currently on the Island

        Should a large Co. make the Island a data center, then they
        could employe some of the people to work the Power plant,
        phone network, and have one hell of a security force.

        Thus the people who want to stay, would have a good job opertunity,
        and the current Handout from NZ could be stopped, and allow
        the Nation to become more self sufficient, which is what they want.

        Now for the bad news:
        ---------------------------------
        1. No Int. telephone/Data networks
        You would need to lay some serious undersea cables to 3 or 4
        other countries (AU,NZ,JP,CN) and maybe even a Satt. station.

        2. Typhoons - The datacenter would need to be underground
        and protected against water.

        3. It would cost many Millions to make this plan a reality....

                      BAH.. I had the idea for a DefCon Island years ago.... we were going to put a BIG-ASS crater in the middle of it and pipe a natural spring to it ... so we could also have a year-round PoolCon... my island was right off of the Bahamas (I think I speelld that right) .. and it would have only ran us like 1.5 mil for the entire 25 acre island... then there wouldn't be room for all the kiddies...
                      If I had a nickle for every time someone offered me ten cents to keep my two cents to myself... I would be a rich man.
