Thanks for your reply. To answer your question no i am not trying to make a worm or virus or anything outlandish like that.

All i am saying is that i have a excellent script that has been written and i am trying to masqurade that script as a jpg, bmp rather than naming it "abdus.jpg.vbs" or anything lame like that.

thanks. Stenography is the science of writing weird shorthand only judges and lawyers can read.

In fact, heres an article all about it http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,41658,00.html

Steganography is a way to hide the files, not necessarily have them ran, as from a commaqnd prompt. You will not likely be able to open a jpg in Photoshop only to have the vbs script run. You will need to extract the script from the jpg file. Extraction is not done automatically (but that may be a feature of XP2) but the users needs the program to do so, so it would not be stealth by any means.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Well the bottom line is that i am trying to find a stealth method to deploy the script, and i can not seem to find anyway whatsoever to deal with this, I feel i am getting alot older and my greying hair is a growing testament to this.

But lets just say i was to send you the location of an encrypted IRC channel would you talk more openly about the problem at hand.
If so just let me know and i will Pm you the location.

Really? Some 1337 d00d told me .txt files were the best since it is hard to come up with words that have the letter x.

the interesting thing about using jpgs is that you have compression on your side to help disguise the real size of what you are trying to hide. ie, you can put a huge (size/color) high compression image with a fair amount of data into one picture file and still have the file size seem unquestionable. Now.. if you have a small image that to any interweb user looks like it should only be 20K and you try to hide the paris hilton video in it... you're just an idiot. bitmaps are very fixed

I'll ask the question. Before telling you exactly how to do it, I want to know exactly what your script does.

Not to mention an obvious deterioration of the imagine... guts clenching superflous work... of course depend on the pixel size too. I prefer to hide my work within other files.
