like last year i saw some people there that werent from the conference in the back ... and the only people allowed in were with badges ...

Going only on what I know of the last few years, they shouldn't have a problem going to and from your room from the parking lot. They won't be allowed into the building with the talks and vendor area, though.

last year the official stance given to attendees was that you had to have a badge to remain on grounds... not sure if any exceptions were made. of course staff won't go room raiding for badgeless victims, but traversing the pool/lobby area may/not be interesting. OP is correct that with the parking lot behind the rooms you _could_ actually go to and from your rooms successfully avoiding these parts of the AP. ..although the bigger question might be, do you want to put your family units through a weekend of defcon?

Thank you so much. Stepdaughter says that to verify who the security folks are she will forcibly remove one testicle from each guard, using only a rusty fork. She can then match it up to the one they have left when the officer approaches her in order to verify his identity.

She gets it from her Mom.

just make sure you're family mentions that they are there for defCon when they make reservations... otherwise the hotel might not let you register.
