Anyone know the number that attended DC11? I need it for a table of Linux/Hacker/CompSec conventions, that will be placed on www.tomshardware.com

Number doesn't have to exact. From my attendance, it looked like 1000-2000...

If I recall correctly, we had 4000 regular badges available this year, and there were only a couple hundred left when we shut down sales on Sunday. That doesn't include press, staff, vendors or speakers, but it does include double sales for all the idiots that lost thier badges while drunk or unconcious.

I bet the vendor area had 300 people, the pools had 100 each, and 50 people were asleep in the lobby at any given time. Hacker Jeopardy can hold 1000 easily I am sure. Add the folks "just passing through" and I bet it was about 5,000.

3,000 is still a low estimate. A conservative estimate would be around ~4,200. Due to the fact that quite a few people attend Defcon without buying a badge (party people, showing up on Sunday, locals, vendors, press, speakers, and staff), the real number of people at Defcon is probably more like 4,500, if not closer to 5,000. I'd use 5000 as an estimate for your website.

I am, of course, not the official authority on this.
