Using Task Scheduler to disable......

I have a question regarding Scheduled Tasks.......In a lab of mine, I have a user that LOVES to surf and game during lectures. Its very distracting as I'm sure you can imagine. I was wondering if there is some way I can use Scheduled Tasks to disable the Direct connection to the internet option under Proxies in Netscape AND/OR Internet Explorer.

Any help would be immensly appreciated......please help! :)

Well you can always get their attention by tossing them bones... in the middle of a sentence simply interject, "and on the next test the answer to number 3 is "none of the above" then on the test have #3 with just answers and no questions. Add three of four of these on the test to eliminate random luck. That's give folks credit for paying attention. :>

Very Easy, if it's during a lecture tell him to stop doing it or he will be asked to leave the class.

Unfortunately I'm not the one lecturing the class...otherwise I would kick him out every day. Myself and a few others have mentioned this distraction to our instructor....but he's too busy to babysit his gameplaying...I guess.

I'll have to find out the web addresses he's going to in his cookies so I can add them to blocked sites in the IE and Netscape settings.

I just wish I could run task scheduler every day to boot his internet access every day during class. :p

If it were I, I'd create a small batch file on a timer to replace the original HOSTS file with a new one, and have the new point all to 127.0.0.1 - no more browsing, nothing of the sort web related while that HOSTS file is where it is. Could pose a problem if they're protected under the filesystem or password of some sort, however....

Theres always the option of giving him random NET SEND's that say things like 'pay attention' and 'If you arent here to learn, why are you here?'. An unscrupulous person could also spend the period poisoning his ARP table so he cant connect either.

I do that to my kid when he's up too late on a school night. About a 1000 net sends will cause an XP box to lock up nice and tight. Gets the point across and I don't have to yell.
