And EV1, a Linux-based hosting firm, pays royalties to SCO despite there being no legally-binding reason to do so. Which may actually be a rather smart move on their part - if the case fails, they get their money back with the potential to sue for coercion; if it succeeds, they're pre-licensed.

Seriosly, how far must SCO go, and how many people must they piss off? It's absofucking ridiculous.

Something about television ruining attention spans springs to mind. It did happen just over a month ago, was called W32.Mydoom.B, and was largely a non-event. Next.

It won't work. See this thread for some of the reasons why.

Linus Torvalds needs to tell SCO they are not worthy.

I think a post on slashdot awhile back had a quote of linus putting sco in their place. I really have no idea why they are going after huge companies, cars and computers, I am sure both have power lawyers who will make sco cry, or at least I hope for that to happen.

points to this interview with Business Week:

The best part was when Linus said:
"There are literally several levels of SCO being wrong. And even if we were to live in that alternate universe where SCO would be right, they'd still be wrong."

It looks like it is, but without the lawyers.

Under the heading of 'Effective Methods of Combat': http://tinyurl.com/2bty7 to see how their stock has tanked over the last three months due largely to shareholder dissatisfaction over this whole fiasco.

Under the heading of 'Ineffective Methods of Combat': worms and denial of service attacks, which really didn't do anything except guarantee the antivirus vendors a useful little spike in sales in the normally-quiet post-Christmas sales period.
