        Well, Chernobyl is the worst disaster in history from a human casualties standpoint, and has been blamed for the death of anywhere from 100,000 to 200,000 people.

        (you can make a claim that the Henan Dam Disaster in 1975, which also claimed the lives of 100,000 people, was worse. That disaster was attributed to underspecification of the structural requirements of the dams rather than sheer human stupidity)

            Except no one's still dying from that disaster, the true death toll of Chernobyl is still being counted, gotta love radiation.
