  • Proposal - Defcon 12 Cookout

Several commonalities exist to the conference

    ) hackers
) hackers that know how to drink
) hackers that know how to party
    ) hackers that know BBQ

It has been discussed before and is starting to pop up in another pre-thread, so I thought it should be held up to the light; how about a couple hours on one of the DC days for a Defcon Cookout of savoring proportions? A couple questions need asnwering:

    Are people interested?
Can this happen without pissing off the firemarshall, without pissing off the AP, and safely (well, .. safe enough for defcon)?

    <your input here>
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

ALL of DC719 is interested, and will participate!!

I dont really have any kind of innovative ideas for it, just showing my groups support!!

Interest has been expressed among DC503 attendees as well and I am in the process of raising interest within the group about the possibility of organizing/hosting should the idea fly

          Firemarshall willing, I'm in.

Might want to have it on the tuesday or wednsday before con, rather than when the hungry hoards arrive and try to mooch off everyone when they get the scent of dead animal on a bbq.

          make it a cookout/bring-your-favorite-secret-sauce-and-share-with-everyone party

I'am more then willing to throw down some New York Strip steaks for some of the goons. Who is bringing the grill? Unless someone from OR is driving that would carry my grill I cant get mine out there. But if it all works out I will happily do my part in representing the dc503 crew in a cook off.

Since I am arriving Tuesday I can marinade the steaks in Jack Daniel's until cookout time!

YEA! Slap on a little garlic and some JD Grillin sauce before you put them down and you have one hell of a steak.

I will marinade 10 steaks and then offer them for $30 each. It will be that much for the JD and steak!

Hmm.. that sounds familier from last year when I was supposed to be manning a grill... ;)

I agree.. let's make it happen this year! We will need someone to find out the fire codes and make sure the fire dept. won't shut us down. I'm in, and has I said last year, I will work a grill.

Anyone local who can look into rental of a decent grill? Anyone local got a decent grill?

Who will be getting the Grill(s)/Food who will be providing the Alcohol (BYOB?). How much will it cost? What are the Fire Code/Ordinances/Resolutions ect.. dealing with Barbecues/Spits and other aparattus of the type? What is the Location going to be? Who is going to take Responsibility of it? Will a permit be needed? If yes, who will deal with all that?
