A Minor Request

I understand google is a good tool for looking up questions. I acknowledge the fact users on this board ask questions that could easily or with patience could be found with a search engine like google. However this is a message board. If noone ask's questions there are a few things that happen: 1, the forum slowly becomes lame. 2, the learning experience is only half-assed... Learning something is half the experience, teaching others is the other half//it also helps you keep a fresh mind on topics when engaging in teaching others...

My only request to everyone here, (i'm not implying that some fail in this.) is to accept the questions.

And it's your choice to reply to other's questions... If you don't want to then just simply don't. You don't have to down their choices or exclude there attempts... If there is something wrong let the moderators deal with it.

I think you are refering to the post in which I told you to google something. Maybe if you weren't so lazy it wouldn't have been an issue.

Furthermore, when a question is intelligent and not one that could be easily found searching on google then many on this board do answer. However, this is not the place for hand holding. If you want someone to wipe your ass, go ask your mom, but don't come here.

The other big issuance is that this is a forum pertaining to defcon and hacking. Hacking isn't about being able to go and find all the answers in one place. Often it isn't even about people telling you the answers at all. It's about going out and finding the answers on your own and then IF you are really stuck going and having someone POINT you in the right direction.

You can only handle stupidity/lazyness for so long. Especially when 99% of questions can be answered through search engines, thing is, People try ONE search, then give up and ask a human.

As a general rule, when I see a question posted that I think is very likely to be answered with a cursory search, I'll google it myself. If the answer is not displayed within the first 5-10 results (and trust me, it's almost always the FIRST result) then I'll usually answer the question if I know it and not tell them to google. On the other hand, if it IS on the first page of the Google results I get pissed. I find it insulting for people to come on here and waste more time typing their question that it takes to search on their own.

I am not a secretary or a research assistant IRL and I sure as shit am not going to be one on here.

I sometimes spend 10-15 min on google/altavista trying to find an answer/solution to any of my problems. If all else fails, ask and clarify/state that you searched google with certain criteria but nothing is available.

Or alternately, if someone came on here and stated that they were trying to find information on a topic but were unable to craft a search string that brought them the results they were looking for and asked not for the answer, but for suggestions on WHAT to search for...I don't think anyone would get pissy with them...well...unless they tried this

I would love to see this board full of questions and answers and as a source of knowledge unequaled by anything anywhere else. But to get there we will need to have A) questions that cannot be found by simple methods, and B)all the questions will need to be *different*.

Having a discussion board with the same lame question in 40 different threads is not a forward moving act. It's a step above spam.

AOL had a great newbie forum, so does mIRC. Folks may wish to crawl before they can walk, and walk before they can run. Coming to these high speed boards while you are still learning the differences between a CD and a DVD do no one any good. They water down these boards and both you and the current members will lose interest, and that is what kills the boards.

So a request to all newbiews, script kiddies, lamers and wannabees. Please check out AOL, Google, mIRC, and your help files on your PC. Join beginner groups. Take a computer class. Then when you are high speed and l33t, come on back, you'll understand this board better, learn more, and be able to contribute more. We'll still be here. ;)

Oh so very true! I started with computing.net and when they started to delete some of my post (they don't like anything to do with kismet) I felt that was the time to start over here, and I still reserve my questions to google/internet/BOOKS/search button in top right corner before posting.

1) I didn't find my reply lame in the least. However, I did find your post lame as well as this one. I guess the problem is either A) You don't know how to form a search string properly or B) You were too lazy to go beyond Page 1.

So there is this asshole who thinks he's badass cause he can boot people from yahoo. I've done searches for programs but they all have lame layouts... Are there any programs///sites that are really good for keeping these lame booters from effecting your yahoo client?

Motivation to help others? If people aren't self-motivated then hacking is definitely something that should steer away from.

Learn to spell and type correctly. Flammer...what the fuck is a flammer? When insulting people it is important to spell correctly. For instance, if I say "TheDorkJeff is a retord".
