  • Linux File System problems

So, I'm kinda new to linux, and I think I was trying to install some piece of software or a driver(something of that nature) and my computer froze up (or at least it apeared that way) and I rebooted it and I guess i fobar'd the file system. Long story short, I have linux but no GUI. and I'd really like some help fixing that. Any help/hints/advice/general computing disaster storys would be a big help.

The only stupid question is the one that you dont ask.
Or the one that ends up in dev/null.

What error(s) are you getting? What version of Linux? Have you tried starting the X server and if so what happens there?

What were you installing? Was a piece of Software or a Driver (think hard)? What software or Driver was it? What Distro are we talking about anyway?.......

For starters just give us the specifications.
