  • Wall of Sheep -

All past Digital Wolves contact me (RiVeRSiDE) via the list passed out. Priest said he could get a projector setup in the pit for us this year, I want to have everything planned out so the workload is balanced, and so we don't have to baby-sit our projector again. We have lots of plans for a killer setup this year. We need everyone to start collecting videos as well as new "sheep" pictures for the program. I'll give full details when contacted. We have a few new "improved" methods of finding sheep this year that need to be discussed prior to arrival as well. :D Also, will one of the Goon's doing setup please contact me.

    Thanks

Hmm, how about broadcasting on the radio?

We can, however, I would need the exact syntax/(code snippet) and IP for the radio server. We were having to sneaker net a disk with the info to the NOC last year, and we couldn't get the syntax right. It was a lot of work for little gain last year. We have some time left; I'd be willing to add that feature into the code if I have some assistance.

Sounds like it could be interesting... not to take away from the niftiness of last year being on a projector, but I still liked the paper plates more ;)

If you're interested, consider placing the sheep announcements into an RSS formatted newsfeed. It might lend to nifty possibilities. Maybe there should be a list for all folks involved in defcon news/contest/update type things.. russ?

The plates were definitely cool. There were only a few minor snags... The pizza lady kept yelling at us for stealing her plates, and the manager of the Hotel got a bit upset with the junk stuck to the walls (sheep pics were a bit graphic too). haha... We're definitely open to suggestions to improve the wall. Just remember one thing though, until we have more coders.... I get stuck doing all the coding. aack!! For the radio I wonder if we could announce the 1st half of a password 1 hour and the second another random hour. :) haha (probabily not) but would be funny. Or… What if we just give a hash value of a password, or a rand() version of one. Then we “technically” wouldn’t be giving the password away. The masses would still have to work for it if they really wanted. Wonder if the uber-goons would go for something like that. I don’t have that kind of “goon” authority at the moment.

well, I think RSS is the wave I'm shooting for again this year with the Wardriving contest results; I'll gladly share code/templates once I have them made.. (probably a month or so though). It worked well last year at the infobooth and with speaker reg too. as far as I know it will be back again, either via me or the dc719 folk. sneakernetting sucks though..

lemme drop a mail out to russ in case he hasn't seen this thread. pm your address and I'll cc you and dmz on stuff to get things moving. It could make it easier and cooler for all of us.

heh.. goon authority is overrated. it just means being stuck in a sweaty stinky shirt all weekend and having congoers run up to you trying to hump your legs... I know this, I'm an official leghumper

Last year was my first "official" year as a goon, and it definitely does have its disadvantages. I worked so much I missed all the speeches, broke up a fight, saw lewd acts in public (darn) ok... that was a perk... the others were somewhat of a nuisance. Just think, this year we'll have 2 shirts for 4 days. We'll only stink 1/2 the time. LOL.

Back to topic... I am calling out anyone that has sat with us for any length of time at the sheep table doing work, that wants to continue, or if your new and wish to join up and have the willingness to be our slave… I mean work. PM me. :D

Otherwise I guess I'll see you "on" the "Wall of Sheep" lol…

doood!!!... you're not gonna keep things very private if you keeping posting it all in the public forum areas. hence the call to pm/email. I did my part, but you may want to edit your posts before too long.

Thanks for the edits. It will be much more fun if our ideas are sprung on the masses. :)

Why would they have to put it anywhere? oh, wait... the Defcon Brain Wave Laser satellite is down again??
