Hey folks. This is just a quick message to remind everyone that we're in the final run-up to LayerOne. June 12th is going to be here pretty rapidly (more so if you're one of the people organising this event ;) , and there are a few things we'd like to let everyone know about.
- Pre-reg. Online pre-reg via PayPal will close June 1st. However, for those who really need a couple of extra days, the June 4th la2600 meeting will be the last chance for cash-only pre-reg and the attendant $10 discount.
- Cheap rooms. Our deal with the Westin gets us some rather nice rooms that can easily accomodate four for $109/night using our discount code of 75C3D. However, this is only available via online booking at http://tinyurl.com/36lcj , and also closes June 1st. As the regular rate for these rooms is $169/night, procrastination won't pay off later in this case ;)
- Wireless Internet access. We'll have an 802.11g access point open to our attendees for the duration of the conference. Please note that this will not be a secure network - as a result, we ask that attendees not use insecure protocols (such as POP3, FTP, and telnet) except via encrypted tunnels such as SSL or VPN connections.
And that about wraps it up for this update. Thanks to everyone for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you all on the 12th and providing what we hope will become a regular fixture on the Los Angeles technical calendar.
