    Stupid copyright protection costs!!!

I’ve come to stand-off with my lawyers over their cost ($612.00) to get copyright protection for one of my web sites. The cost includes creating a federal copyright application, the U.S. government application fee, and filing of the application with the U.S. Copyright Office.

I have used Google to search for ways to get my copyright protection for less. After viewing multiples sites with offers that seem to good to be true, I come to the decision that maybe they are to good to be true. Because of this, I wanted to know if anyone here on the forums had ever gotten a copyright protection through someone other than a lawyer?
    How long did it take?
    Were you happy?
Did they do a good job?
    Would you highly recommend them?

*After already having to get two copyright protections through a lawyer for something different, I really don’t want to have to pay that much again or the headache.*

lil_freek, I suggest you ignore Sparks-Kelly and his douchebag reply as he'll quickly be banned, I'm sure...

Why are you attempting to register a copyright? Federal laws requiring copyrights to be registered were repealed over a decade ago. You can place a non-registered copyright on any work of your own creation and it will still be valid in court...

After having to fight a long court battle over my SnowSlutz site because my copyright was not registered, I wish not to go through that again.

It is still vaild court, but it's a pain in the ass when its not registered.

*Psst, Sparks-Kelly is a girl not a guy*
Not sure if she will be banned or not, but hopefully after the last two times maybe she's learned a lesson. Then again maybe not.

I guess we will have to wait for Skroo or Chris to see what happens.

I thought I detected a hint of Adam's Apple in these photos. I can't really tell though, could just be an androgynous 14 year old:

I have a feeling that's not her picture.

Okay, time to get this thread back on track: About copyright protection.

I do tons of photography and each image is copyrighted immediately after I take it, even if the film is not yet developed. While I have tyhe copyright I cannot sue for damages unless I have filed the proper paperwork. And then even if you have3 filed the proper paperwork, copyright law is always a federal issue, making is very inconvenient to enforce.

As far as saving a few bucks though. When I file with the Library of Congress they have a fee "per submission." Now if I send in one photo, that is one submission. But if I submit a DVD with 4,000 photos, that too is one submission, hence the same fee.

Your lawyer may have a minimum fee of $615, but see what else you can toss in there while you are at it. His fees may go up but the .gov won't.

It's an investment. Guard what is your's.

Just like how this kid did:
                http://www.kellycraig.net/Poem.html

                When it comes time
To tell you I Love You
I wont know what to do
And while I want to sayI Love You
This statement could take all day

When I admitted I liked you
You smiled and blushed with glee
But when you tore my heart out
I figured it must have been me

Why it is that you decided to Break up
I guess I will never know
I had hoped we could be together
I just wanted to be there for you, ya know

But now the time draws near
And the storm is approaching fast
It is time that you truly tell me
If this has all been just a blast
For you hold my fate in your arms
The decision you have to make
Could change the course of history
As I would be in your past

But through the rain and the clouds
                Shines a Promising Light
                For in my favor
                The decision you could make
Could hold the key to life
But I truly do Like you
                For this I can Say
I want us to be together
So please, give me the chance to make you happily free
I will forever be there for you
So it would make my day

For me to be with you

                Would lift the clouds

For all and I to See.
