Good Lord, man, by what mental process did you manage to connect this with the rest of the thread?

Whew...I was starting to think I had caught stupid. I had absolutley no idea what this had to do with anything. I re-read every post in this thread twice trying to figure out what the hell he/she/it was talking about.

As a general rule of thumb, "security by obscurity" is not a good foundation for a security model. "Hiding" files from default listing is not the same thing as access restrictions and limits for read or write access; they are two different animals.

This is equivalent to creating chmod 777 "dot files" in a /tmp/ tree on a *NIX system as a method to prevent people from accessing them. (You may want to re-think your method of access control for the data you wish to have access restricted.)

Of course, I pointed out the fault with the original premise earlier. Many of the other posts which followed provided attempts to deal with access restrictions; this is the real issue.

Though you have tried to provide an answer, it is not an answer (in the conventional sense) to the question being asked.

Not that I am saying that you "caught stupid," because I have no desire to be the forum whipping boy...but "...every thread in this post?"
