You would only need drivers for the data part of it. Power will flow without drivers.

He's not suggesting to control it (for which you would need a driver). He's only saying to use the USB for power, like Kelvin's USB toothbrush last year. You don't even need a computer to run it... just power through a USB port, like a powered hub.

Dont know, never wrote one although I do know you can google it and there is plenty of info there.
