but i have hardly any money, so i'm seeing if anyone wants to carpool. my car gets about 400 miles a tank, seats four including myself, and i have no problem with driving the whole way. i'm used to driving out on road trips (houston to san antonio twice a month) and sleeping in the car, so if that's okay with everyone else i'm fine with it. but if someone has a hotel/wants to get one/knows someone/etc. , i'm cool with that too.
i've gone on trips to new york and such where we contact people via myspace.com, and my experiences with that have worked out pretty well. i have no problem staying with strangers or sleeping on floors.
let me know if you're interested or have questions.

You should tell people when you are planning on leaving. This helps in the overall process.

      sorry
i suppose i'll leave on the 27th or 28th. i guess it would be about a day and a half of driving. i know houston to el paso is 12 hours, and i think lads vegas is about 8 or so hours from there.
i'm really up for anything and can leave wheneevr. i'm pretty flexible and can work around someone's schedule.
      any takers?

        YES.

pm me, or e-mail me fyre at houston dot rr dot com

        I'm in Houston (SW side).
Here's the deal.. I'm VERY strapped for cash, as well. I'll likely have just enough for the con admission, and to help out with gas (I'll sleep on the hallway at the con, most likely. Unless they no longer allow that.. Did it for either 9 or 10.. can't remember). This is, I won't be able to commit until the week before.
Also, I'm a fat f--k. Hopefully that little four seater is like a decent-size four-seater, or my fat a$$ won't fit behind the wheel. But I can contribute gas, internet (laptop via cellphone), mp3 player, and other various things.

E-mail for contact number, let's do the "Non-psycho-stalker-meetup" to make sure we won't kill each other when stuck in a car together for 20 hours.

          Your timing is off...
From mapsonus.com, going out I-10 West most of the way:

          Route Summary
          Start: Start Point (Houston, TX)
End: End Point (Las Vegas, NV)
Totals: 1461.5 miles, 29 hours 13 min, 25 turns (Fastest Route)

Yep, we drive out from San Antonio, and it was just over 19 hours. I'd expect 22-23 from Houston.
