    They did things with moving cameras while filming in Metropolis that we did not see for 10 to 20 years later from people like Hitchcock. One of the best examples is the section of video returned into Metropolis in the recent re-release where the camera follows a hand in the foreground to a door... very nice early example of a technique that is now common.

    The general theme of people being slaves to machine is also something we see today. However, this slavery is a self-imposed one as people who do not read README or manuals really are at the mercy of the machines they claim to be using.

    ... And though the IT support staff may not be at the mercy of the machines, they are at the mercy of clueless users who make stupid decisions.

    I'll wait till I ROBOT comes out on video before seeing it and passing judgement on it. Reliable sources tell me it sucks.
