Yeah, the real item was streaking through the talk... that didn't include actually going up to Grifter, and hugging him. It was Sunday about 30 minutes from the competition ending, that or it had ended, but we were still going to count the points anyway for that item. All the teams were really riled up at that point, and having a blast with the last couple hours of the con (that was also the same two hours that the cows head came in). I was in charge of the table at the time, so I didn't get to see it (probably a good thing), but I heard about and started laughing my ass off.

Grifter is very snuggable.

So we need to be in possession of the item in order to score points? For example, a photograph of a team member standing next to a cow would not be sufficient to fulfill the cow-head requirement? Or is this another option for those wishing to obtain partial points?

It really depends on the item. Typically, we would rather you bring whatever item in for the points, but understand that some of this (actually, more like half of it this year) will not be possible even at the Alexis Park Hotel. Which is where we'll take pictures, video, recordings, etc as proof that you did it. It's really a matter of common sense... would the cow's head really be worth 100 points if all you had to do was have a cabby drive you to the closest place you can find one, and take a picture? We gave out 100 points for bringing in uranium last year... if it's 100 points, we expect some real work have been done to acheive it.

At Defcon 10, I personally took a cab ride with Siviak to the tattoo parlor to watch him get a Defcon tattoo. It was a ways out of my way, but the other half the reason for running this competition is that we want to watch the tasks being done because it's halarious. If you decide to compete you'll get the idea of how it works by the end of the first day.


And yes, I did get a chance to see that movie already.

Shit, those were some good drugs then! Haha, I might of been thinking of someone else then. Don't blame me, it's been a couple years, and I spent a lot of the con drunk :D
