  • DC12 Queercon!

Fashionably late as always, the gay members of 2600 Seattle would like to invite you to the first ever Queercon!

Queercon is an opportunity for gay and lesbian hackers to meet, mingle, drink, dance, and hook up. We're not alone out there, so it's about damned time we all got together. :P

Queercon is being held alongside DJ CMOS's annual Pool Party, on Friday at 10p outside Pool 2. CMOS will be supplying the music, but the party is BYOB (be a love and bring some to share. ) The event welcomes everyone who's open-minded and knows how to have a good time.

Also, queer party-goers are encouraged to bring something yellow (not red), so we can identify each other. Hacker gaydar can leave much to be desired. :)

For full details, check out www.queercon.org. See you there!

What about the bisexuals and Transgender person? Isn't queer our umbrella word?

Of course! It would be great to get any and all LGBT individuals to come! Even S (Straight) people can come. :p

Bah... you say you love us, but then it's all about "pick a hole!!" :D

Anyway... I thought QueerCon was traditionally Saturday night in the Pool3 hottub.

I hope the "something red" bit doesn't make HW think all the goons are available. :p

Hey, I'll go to both! (wonders if this might be a good time to suggest the official unofficial queercon afterparty in my room)

                  Left or right...

Ah, the hankey... at least one other knows as I do.

                  Oh, the possibilities! ;)

                  Lt. Grey, hmm?

WHOO! Now *that* was a party! And nothing makes a party like that more memorable than later finding pictures of you at it spreading across the internet. (No, I wasn't the black guy, he's one of my friends)

But I'm with Strom, I'm hoping for both. :D

Only if you plan on using plenum-rated cat5e. (I used to do wiring for a living; i'm particular about this sort of stuff) :)

and yeah, my god, that hot tub was incredibly fun.

                        Color Change!

Ok, at the request of one of the goons, the official color is going to change. This is sad, because red is how people identify each other at Gay Days at Disneyland/World, but oh well, this isn't Disneyland (far from it ;) ) We wouldn't any false goon sightings if people decided to wear red t-shirts.

So, take two big steps down the rainbow flag, and find the new color: YELLOW!

So if you want to be known for your queerness, bring along a yellow ribbon or sticker or something. Or, you know, just practice your lisp.

Yellow? Yellow? Surely you jest... Yellow in the Rainbow Flag Represents Sunlight which is something most hackers are very against.

Here is a nice little list for you below of what all the colors actually mean:
sex (fuchsia), life (red), healing (orange), sunlight (yellow), nature (green), magic (turquoise), serenity (blue), and spirit (purple)

And yes, ther original rainbow flag by Gilbert Baker was eight colors (not the standard six that you see today in circulation).

And if people do wear yellow, don't bring a yellow hanky unless you know what it means!

Hanky Code: Yellow Left Pocket: Water Sports Top
Hanky Code: Yellow Right Pocket: Water Sports Bottom

I'm going to apologize in advance for this statement, but it's so obvious I have to make it:

OMG! YELLOW is the new RED! :D
