"It is difficult not to wonder whether that combination of elements which produces a machine for labor does not create also a soul of sorts, a dull resentful metallic will, which can rebel at times". Pearl S. Buck
Just a note to any media that happens to read these forums. Guys, the 'Fear and Hacking in Las Vegas' thing...its old. let it go. seriously. It was witty about 10 years ago when some rocket scientist of a reporter went 'hey, what if rather than Fear and LOATHING in Las Vegas, I called it Fear and HACKING in Las Vegas. Ah, pure journalistic gold'. Since then, about every year, some not-so-witty journalist comes along and thinks they're the first to ever come up with this. Folks, you need to move on.
Yeah it is old... but be advised that the actual writers of article have little control over the headline or title. Such was the case of my article for tomshardware as my original title was "Hackers in Vegas".
Workflow for most media websites
Writer > Editor > Webmaster
The editor's job is to change grammar and spelling mistakes, without changing meaning. The editor also has power over your title and summary. The editor is supposed to send the edited article back to the writer for a final check, but if the schedule is tight, the article is sent straight to the webmaster for posting.

Wow, that's two conferences in a row they've done that to you. You may want to consider protecting your journalistic credibility by writing for an outlet that's less prone to assuming complete control over a writer's output.

Screw the Media, G4TechTV just hyped their segments, saying they were the ONLY media allowed at DEFCON. As for other media, KTLA gets a big finger too for the segment on the Cannonball that played coast-to-coast. All references are below

The list of links that started this thread has been growing (thanks for suggestions that were added) and have turned into a web page with all media coverage that we've found since DC1. If the remote link is no longer valid, try reading the 'local copy'. If you know of any stories that were ever written about DC that didn't make it, please email me and I'll update the page (d a @ d e f c o n . o r g)
