I have had a run in with a couple of trojans. One I have run across in the past. It's name is PSW.Bipsy.D The other I am not familiar with...Dropper.Small.6.L does anyone know anything about this one? Is there a removal tool available? I did a Google on it but it yeilded nothing of much value, just some forums where people knew about as much as I do about it....Thanks.

Originally posted by Floydr47Thank you for pointing out what should have been obvious to me. That solved the problem. I was trying to disable System Restore while in Normal mode...never thought of going into Safe Mode to disable. I think I am rid of Dropper.Small.6.L. and PSW.Bipsy.D now. It seems that they hide in System Restore. The key was shutting down and disabling system restore while in safe mode, clearing all restore points, and then running AVG while in safe mode and then doing a Normal reboot. Thanks again guys for your help...sometimes I don't see the forest for the trees. My anti-virus programs are showing no virus now.
use linux :)
my opinion :)We my be small, but our Shell is big

I remove trojans and adware from peoples machines daily.. Id rather be working on other things, than watching scanners count files.. Anyhow.. I get paid for it..
Housecall.Antivirus.Com does a good job at detecting trojans as well as viruses..
Google "HijackThis" good tool to clean out your windows startup...
Utility called "KillBox" allows you to kill running services and files that are in use, windows normally wont let you delete unless in safe mode.
Those are my recommendations for virus/trojan removal..
as far as adware/spyware, AdAware SE, and Spybot Search and Destroy.
Not very well known, this scanner is small, and almost instant in producing a list of infectionsBazooka
When the spywareinfo.com site gets back up Xscan another online scanner
detects alot of stuff.
Anyhow, Id think these tools were well known.. but in case you havent seen one
of them here they are.. Theres a few more tools specific to certain trojans, theres a VX2 remover on that Killbox page I linked, but the above are the most common I use.
One note, VX2 changes windows system policy, to make it harder to remove, if you use the tool, make sure to click the restore policy first, or you will reboot to a machine where you cant login.Last edited by [Syntax]; September 16, 2004, 09:09.
