I recently bought a broken laptop at a garage sale and fixed it. But now that it works the guy that had it before me had set a bios password on the damn thing. He won't tell me what it is because I fixed the computer and he didn't think I could. He is being a real jerk and refuses to tell me anything. So now I have a working laptop that I can't even use. Any ideas on how to get past it? If I can't bypass it I might have to just try to social it away from the guy. Any advice would be great.

The answer is going to be very specific to the laptop so, without a model, this is a very difficult question to answer. Some laptops have a jumper you can enable or a battery you can remove to erase the password. Others, such as Dell, require that you call tech support with the model number and verify your identity as the original owner to receive a backdoor password. -
