"An area to discuss general Defcon or non-computer related things."

What? You closed my thread because why?

There used to be a politics and religion segment of this forum, it was closed due to the epic battles that ensued, and bitching that followed. This forum I feel is more technical in nature, I am sure we will debate the debate on irc or something, but here is not the place.

i see how upholding the rules to this site is the key to it's contribution. i would have prefered a more official form of censorship from the officials, since there was no way of me knowing (via search of the history of this site) that the content i was presenting was out of bounds...

      simple mistake...yet good point...

Speaking as the guy who closed it, that's about as official as it gets. It just happens. The Defcon Forums don't reward knowledge; they punish ignorance.

Au contraire. Had the search feature been used with common terms such as 'Bush' or 'Kerry' you would've found plenty of backing material in no short order.

sidenote...i can't help but see the similarities between the format of your answers and george bush's...straight and empty. i don't mean to be subborn...i just want to understand why. if politics were banned from the site, i think it should be posted somewhere, or at least easier to find...

            help would be much appreciated...

I assume you're speaking to me, so please enlighten me as to the deeper meaning you're so desperately searching for. I guess that I've failed to get my point across with clear language.

If you were banned, you'd know it by now. If you'd bothered to read the rules and spent the time lurking here to get to know how things work in this corner of the world, you'd've known better than to post the idiotically presumptuous thread that you did. But you didn't.

              Now, here's the difference.

Your mistake was assuming that we all think the same way you do. Congratulations, we don't - at least not all of us. I just happened to be the first person here to demonstrate that to you. Lesson one: an occupational hazard of stating one's opinons in public is that the public may not agree with you. Lesson two: just because you hold an opinion does not automatically make it the right opinion. And lesson three: freedom's a bitch: for every opinion you hold, there's someone like me (or not) who might damn well oppose it. And guess what: that's *our* right. But you have to tolerate our opinion as much as we have to tolerate yours - that's the bitch part of freedom I was referring to; it cuts both ways.

My political views may not be the cool popular ones that everyone holds at the coffee house you may hang out at, but I'll be fucked sideways with a logsplitter before I'll let some random twat with a keyboard tell me how to think. And the corollary to that is that I'll extend the same courtesy to you, provided you also throw it my way.

Congratulations, you just gave me reference material for the next five weeks and beyond. The next presumptuous dipshit who makes a 'Bush is teh poopayhaed' post is gonna be referenced to this one in no short order. I make no apologies for my views, but I also have enough respect for those who don't share them to not step on the views they hold. So far, you've singularly failed to do the same.

And to reference your earlier post: I would strongly recommend dropping the political crap, period. This is not the place for it, and keeping on with it is not going to do you any favours around here.
