AOL's latest advertising hyperbole; seen tonight on TLC and The Discovery Channel:

If you have "an idea to make the Internet better" you can just submit it to AOL, and they'll take care of it. (Apparently, delusions of granduer have set in and they think they're running the whole Internet now.) Good to know who we can call.

My idea is to get rid of AOL. It's true that it's obvious, but it's still a good idea.

i must have seen all variations (about two) of the commercial sixteen times today.

i was rolling on aol for a solid two years about five years ago. because of aol, i learned vb and some c just to get by parental controls and online timers. sad? indeed.

a report card for internet activity? haha.

I was on AOL... for a month. Then I realized that it was a bitch. A very loud bitch that never shut up (aka: annoying, or my mother). So I got rid of it.

AOHELL still haunts my darkest dreams...

I just saw that commercial...I believe it will do them more harm than good. Maybe people will realize how ridiculous the soccer mom "trying to protect her kids" by using AOL is.

/me utterly refuses to comment on the entire thing.....
If I had a nickle for every time someone offered me ten cents to keep my two cents to myself... I would be a rich man.

i don't know about that...it's obviously true that parents do care about what their kids look at on the internet.

Some parents do, but many do not.

With respect to the commercial, if you have a good idea and AOL is willing to back you on it, why not? Some of us may not like, but AOL is a fairly significant player in the current Internet market.

Well, what got me was the unmitigated gall that they can "fix the Internet." They may be able to fix the manner that AOL users enter and access the 'net, but that's all.

Well let's face it, most AOL users believe AOL is the internet, :p

Which only shows, whatever AOL lacks in features, security, and speed, it makes up with marketing.

I like their marketing, I still use their "free AOL internet trial" cd cases for CD's and DVD's. Awful nice of them to package them in a reusable way.
                          Did Everquest teach you that?

Christ, can we just make it a rule to forget AOL even exists? Post a sticky or something?
