So in this sense it is a official that during the Defcon dates that AP is in fact sold out?

People add and drop reservations all the time, call the AP or try to reserve via the web. That's about as official is you can get.

History shows the AP has been sold out with DefCon people each year it has been there except one or two of the early years where non-DefCon people has the remaining rooms.

It was "Hax0rz" socially engineering your web server to give them that page. They used the "u83r-31337", super-fly, point-and-click technique to gain access with some front door action.

I should make a presentation on this:
"Seeing what they want you to see with front-door point and click exploits"
I could submit it as a joke to see what happens. :-)
