I liked in the game Eternal Darkness (which is the greatest mind trip in video game form ever created) how it had a phony "Erasing savegame files" screen to freak you out.
Funny, or just cruel?

Thanks for the imput, but the prank we ended up playing was to actually launch internet explorer. but with a defaced copy of the school website.

Scary thing, most fell for it. It has been revealed to be a fake, but now students are demanding more, they are literally pestering me about adding jokes every damn time I sit down at the computer.There once was a Windows box with no firewall. Keyword is, there once was.

I don't know what's funnier,
The zombocom flash intro on the legit site,
Or your defaced version.Liberty not only means that the individual has both the opportunity and the burden of choice;
it also means that he must bear the consequences of his actions.
Liberty and responsibility are inseparable.

oh, you ruined the surprise for me. Just like when some one ruined Final Fantasy VII.Originally posted by basculeI liked in the game Eternal Darkness (which is the greatest mind trip in video game form ever created) how it had a phony "Erasing savegame files" screen to freak you out.
hmph...
If you want to talk about pranks though, a good one, i think, is to pick the lock to the car(or jimmy it, whatever) of the person who had the nerve to piss you off(or the nerve to get into a prank war with you) and take out the fuses. Or do you remember the club? That red thing that went over your steering wheel? After the fuses are delt with, put one of those on their wheel. I dont think people will want to do to much to you after that..The only stupid question is the one that you dont ask.

Even better, we just set the bacground as a screenshot of a bluescreen of death, hid all the icons on the desktop, and moved the taskbar to the right of the screen, and made it small. Everyone kept restarting it, and it came right back up. People hit the spacebar 15 times and gave up...There once was a Windows box with no firewall. Keyword is, there once was.

Many Linux Distros include a nifty scrensaver "BSOD" which is a collection of various OS system errors from Apple ][, to Mac, to Windows and many more. First time I saw something like this was back in 1993 for Macs... there was a screensaver where you could see MS-DOS commands being typed with various errors and complaints from the OS.Originally posted by HexticEven better, we just set the bacground as a screenshot of a bluescreen of death, hid all the icons on the desktop, and moved the taskbar to the right of the screen, and made it small. I think it would be funny to do that to some one that has no knowledge of computer's.
The expression on their face when that pop's up.
Know that would be funny has hell.Even better, we just set the bacground as a screenshot of a bluescreen of death, hid all the icons on the desktop, and moved the taskbar to the right of the screen, and made it small. The first time I saw clueless users trying to click on a snapshot of a desktop within a web page that offered directions on how to use a web browser, I laughed. :-DOriginally posted by kijiKnow that would be funny has hell.
Now when I see it, I seriously wonder about the future of the human race. :-oComment

I think its funnier when you get the people that think they know what they're doing, you know the kind the wannabe hacker types that can "hack the [insert government instatution here]" we've all met them, and trick them with something like this and then they dont know what to do, they dont say much after that.Originally posted by kijiI think it would be funny to do that to some one that has no knowledge of computer's.

I know of a nice little Blue Screen of Death Screensaver that was circulating on Windows OS'. It was kind of funny the first 30 times or so.Originally posted by TheCotManMany Linux Distros include a nifty scrensaver "BSOD" which is a collection of various OS system errors from Apple ][, to Mac, to Windows and many more. for pranks nothing beats the bootable Goatse, awhile back I went around the office putting a copy in each drive like some kind of deranged santa claus. When everyone got back from lunch I hid in the backround and reveled in the cries of confusion and rage when people one by one booted up their machines.I like puppiesComment
