March 23, 2005, (Mountain View, CA). The Mozilla Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving choice and promoting innovation on the Internet, today announced a security update for its Firefox Web browser. The update is a proactive security release to patch a bug identified by Internet Security Systems, a premier security research, products, and services company. No known exploits of the bug have been reported prior to the update's release.
Yeah I got that last night, the nice thing this time was that it showed up automatically instead of me having to search for it. Even though the update was just downloading the 1.0.2 installer, it was still nice. And like it has been said before, the installer doesn't erase your settings, so don't worry about that.

Yes, it appears as a red "thing" on the right upperside corner of the browser. Very nice :)

Haha, yeah, after I installed it the red (I think it was a red octagon with an exclamation point in it, but I might be mistaken) thing still showed up and said "Important critical updates available" or something to that effect. When I clicked it, it wanted to download 1.0.2 again, so once you click no or cancel, it goes away.

MS's IE6 had been getting terrible reviews in various PC magazines. Forbes magazine even had an article in which it states that CERT recommended alternative browsers such as firefox an opera. That's bad press for MS when their software is slammed in Forbes. I bet many corporate execs finally noticed the security issues related to IE6, and questioned thier Security people about alternatives in the work place.
