  • SUV Rentals in Las Vegas?

Its looking like I am going be the designated driver for the Usual Suspects, and I was curious which Las Vegas rental car companies rent 4x4's besides the Jeep Wrangler, but a little larger than a Ford Escape. A Chevy Suburban would be more like it, something to get out to the DC-Shoot and back ideally.

    Thanks in advance!

Enterprise will rent you a Suburban, but you have to call and drill it into their heads that that is what you want, both when you make your reservations and a few days before.

Enterprise is pretty fuckin' retarded. I'd also suggest you get the name of the person on the phone. and like Etherlite says, call them a few days before and say "Sally told me you guys have a suburban ready for me, etc ,etc".

I go for the Budget deals, like one week for $165, but invariably I do not speak one of the languages than anyone behind the counter does. I have had better luck renting in Thailand.

In Vegas, Enterprise, Alamo, and one more (Budget, I think?) are all one company. You reserve a specific class of car, they hand you a ticket, you go pick from anything in that row. There's no way to reserve a specific make/model with them because of their selection process, but I've always found the selection to be very nice. When you reserve an SUV, they'll tell you the types that are available, then you get to pick from those. Also, just for information, a minivan rents for less and carries more drunks... er... i mean hackers.

Yeah, but a minivan doesn't command the respect a bigass Suburban with one of these badboys mounted temporarily up front.

Call me cheap, but when I rent a car in LV, I often get the cheaper cars that have a minimum of working AC-- especially when I go to DefCon, since I spend most of my time at the hotel and apply the money to "other stuff" :-D

Now, if I attended the DC shoot or other similar events in the desert, I would probably opt for some sort of 4x4 options, as some trips to the desert have been too much for many cars.

.. of course, if erehwon offered me a ride in this badass suburban, I would not turn him down. ]:>

Pretty much shuttling all the usual suspects in and around Chicago, and those who are temporally living outside of the 312, 630, 773, and 847 area codes.

They all come back home eventually...

                      Hertz has everything you need.

Ford Expeditions, Ford Excursions, Ford F150's, Lincoln Navigators, Caddy Escalades. Depends on how much you want to pay.

I always rent a ford expedition. black. tinted. lots of antennas

I'd avoid Enterprise as much as possible, they like to do last-minute gambling with availability. As was said before, if you want a particular machine make sure to drill it into their thick heads.

Hertz has Ford Excursions and Expeditions. I've always had good luck with Hertz when I travel. I made the mistake of going with a discount one a few weeks ago on a trip and I regretted it.

You can hit all of the major car rental websites, plop in the date and airport and they will tell you what is available. Hell, the travel websites will gather all the data for you .

Hertz can get spendy, but they will hook you up. I'm a Gold Club member and I have been very happy with the treatment I get. If they dont have a car in the size I want, they will always upgrade me up, not down. Plus they like to shmooze. If you get them on a slow day and can talk them up a bit, they're more than happy to hook you up with a SUV for the mid-size rate.

I return whatever i wish . Its called FREEDOWM OF RANDOMNESS IN A HECK . CLUSTERED DEFEATED CORn FORUM . Welcome to me

I had good luck out of Avis this last weekend in Boston.. they even let me slide with the gas tank not being topped off. I had rented a mid-sized, but they said for around $10 more I could get an SUV.. not too bad.
