I'm not sure who here knows about it or not, but The Scene is a downloadable television series about a warez group. It basically follows a guy by the name of Drosan as he sells his "packages" (DVD screeners) to someone else before releasing to his group to decrypt, encode, and put on their IRC server. It's pretty interesting -- I downloaded all five episodes and watched them tonight. It's only about 200 megs over all for all five. Check it out.

I don't know if anyone else got this, but for episodes three and five, I got this 403 message

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Know anything about that? Also, it could just be my connection, but I doubt it, did anyone else download it slower than normal? I'm averaging 70 KB/s when it should be somewhere in the hundreds. Thanks for any information.

You will notice different hosts serving different parts with different protocols (http/ftp) from their download page.
Find a host that works for one of the episodes, and then change the URL "episode number" to the ones you are missing. It seems many sites have all 5 even if they don't tell you with a direct link from a webpage.

Though they probably are not using this as a security measure, it is an example of how, "security by obscurity is often no security at all."

As an alternative, you can try a torrent for missing episodes.

The error is likely a result of the owner of the site, ISP, or a network admin who found the excessive traffic was too expensive financially, or in opportunity cost in loss of service to their customers, and decided to make it unavailable.
If you have ever had a site "slashdotted" then you know the kind of traffic that can be generated and how quickly even big pipes can become saturated, and servers bogged down with service requests.

Yeah, I downloaded all five episodes via Bit Torrent. They were rather quick also. I just started watching one while downloading the sequel, came back, and did that again.

Review of the first 5 episodes:
Sound mixing has issues with balance between music and spoken word,
Technical irregularities in the process (ripping and encoding is more a one-person job than a group effort. Suspension of disbelief required?)
Character development does not match motivation (Poor, money crunch, but 100Mbps home connection? Colocated server with hundreds of gigs of storage space?)
Character motivations are made too obvious-- similar to US Broadcast TV Shows and their target audience.

Plus points for trying a newer style of filming for entertainment, and attempting to make being a spectator of irc and chat interesting.

Problem: Is it even possible to make IRC and chat entertaining in film to spectators?

Overall, considering what has been shown, and cost of my viewing it, on a scale from 1 to 10, I would give it a 4.

Where is it going? I bet an MPAA/Sony Pictures combined political ad to convince people that Piracy of Movies and Videos is EVIL and BAD. (Evil and bad are value judgements designed to sway public opinion-- I don't argue over issues of legality.) Foreshadowing exists when you look at the web content and articles they are reading.

It started out funny, but quickly went downhill; too much time passes between each thing that is supposed to be funny.

I thought episodes 1-4 were pretty good. clearly it's not real, but still it had some interesting plot points. "oh no, he's going to stab his friends in the back!" Ep 5 was just lame.

for tehscene, they should have delayed release and re-recorded the audio and *NOT BLOWN ON THE MIC*. That totally ruined it for me.

Personally, I would much rather see media with product placement than to have a show interrupted by annoying commercials. Perhaps tests like this are a step in the right direction.

I'll watch it later. Even though I gave episodes 1-5 low scores, I will still watch it to see where it goes.

"Teh Scene" (parody) has a "new" Episode 2.

Wow! As unfunny as "Teh Scene" Episode 1 was, Episode 2 was that much funnier! Much better jokes, faster pace, and some rather clever ideas for the overall story!

Getting Episode 2: Learn from experience:

Attempts to download the ".zip" file linked from their site and you get a nifty zip that contains a rar and a "sample.avi" as well as a ".nfo" but the rar contains 6 other rar which are just copies of Episode 1 and after fully unraring all sub-rar, you have wasted about 800MB of disk space on 6 identical copies of the exact same file Episode 1. (Hah-Hah. Oh a wiseguy!)

Of the 4 mirrors of .rar, 3 of the mirrors provide their .rar with the mime-type of text/plain, and one provides its content as application/x-rar, but they all have rar files that encounter errors when you try to extract the files they seem to have rar-ed. unrar shows a listing for 2 files in these archives (a .avi and .nfo) but the files are not at all happy. (Incompetence, or more wiseguys?) These may even be different files-- I did not check.

The only method to get this file that has worked in the links from their site has been the torrent.

ok.. so I broke down and watched them. .. well ... with my finger on sharply on the clicker thingy.

Its like watching 'Hackers' on my computer, except the desktop is empty, the chat is sublame, and dorkoftheday just sits there staring at only one Windows terminal while he's surrounded by multiple lovers and even a set of boobs.

I did find it amusing that a flick series about encoding groups was poorly produced. ...or maybe they just hadn't found an ebook on audio syncing for dummies yet.

I jest, yet I found all 6 episodes strikingly unstriking. boring. The perspective was a great idea that eventually made me wish The Matrix sequals had more CG and less cohesive plot.

Ok. Now go trudge through the semi boring Episode 1 of the parody. Once you get done with that, Episode 2 is pretty funny. :-)
