      How did you reset it?

Did you follow the procedure linksys suggests for how to reset it to default settings? (Hint: It is in their manual.)

I keep clicking there, but the troubleshooting HighWizard does not appear. What is wrong?
[Can I expect a HighWizard delivered in the mail in 3 to 5 business days? Any extra S&H charges?]

Dammit! You always seem to have a better reply than me!
The first link is great. The second link? Gah! As for the last link? I was thinking it would actually cause you to be downloaded as a tech support highwizard... Then we could have you fix stuff for us at work.

yes i have physical access to this router, and I purchessed it and own it. I have called the linksys guys and talked to them on the chat. They tell me that there is nothing that i can do. So basically i have no idea what the router password is. So i need to get rid of that so i can set it up to be used. The rest button doesn't work. U gave ried so many diffrent combinations with it, and nothing seems to work. So i really nead a way around that problem.

With other LinkSys devices, the reset button is sort of like a "reboot" for it. Reset alone does not seem to do much to settings.

In the manual for other LinkSys wireless AP, and this one, you are supposed to be able to hold down the "reset" button for at least 10 seconds to cause it to revert its settings to what they were before.

In older LinkSys devices, holding the reset button even longer would cause the device to downgrade its firmware to be the same as the version shipped.

Visit The product page from LinkSys Website and examine the user's guide for the WAP54g and you find this suggestion on page 48, bottom, "FAQ: How do I reset the wireless access point."

A pretty good site with peer support for prodicts, review of DSL ISP by customer rating, and generalinformation is http://www.dslreports.com/ They also have forums for different hardware like that from LinkSys. (That site even has really simple tools to perform basic port scan and estimate bandwidth-- no replacement for better tools, but a good start for "point-and-click" users and "free.".)

A search of their linksysforums produced this link where that user claims they were able to reset their password.

So, here is my question, why shouldn't I flame you right now?

If the reset button is "broken" have linksys replace it under warrantee.

If the item is not under warrantee, then open the thing up and find a way to safely close the reset button circuit. (Think like a hacker.)

Your lack of ambition is not impressive. :-/

For this answer, you must buy 2 beers for each of the first 5 DefCon goons you see at DefCon (total of 10 beer.)

look. we've given him more than enough help. we're not tech support. and tech support basicly called you a tard. so if you cant figure it out by now, with a manual, aftertalking to tech support, and using th whole wide web, then you're pretty much fucked. thanks for stopping by.

Okay i the warranty of my WAP54G is no good, So i opened it up. I found some websites that told me of flashing. I found this website which is very descriptive, but i don't have a Version 1.1.

                  http://voidmain.is-a-geek.net/redhat...g_revival.html

So i looked around for corresponding parts, or something that might lead me on the path the right path. To my luck this website helped, but didn't show me the way.

Then i have also contacted linksys support though chat. That kind of helped, but still hitting a brick wall. So in this hunt for the a way around the reset button on the back has lead me into flashing it, but i need the right version. Why the hell did i get the version 2.2? oh well... I am making more progress as i go on.

Sorry for seeming unenthusiastic about it. Any more helpful information would be nice, but thanks for the information so far. Oh yeah i also looked at this site that lead me to viodmain's site.

                    Unplug it from the power.
Leave unplugged for 5 minutes. Walk away from it. 10 minutes is better.
Press and hold the reset button.
Plug the power back in while still holding the reset button. (This may take 3 hands)
Continue to hold the reset button for ~15-30 seconds.
                    Release the reset button.
Using a PC with a manual IP and the submask in the 192.168.1.x/24 range, log on to the WAP, using the factory default IP address. (Should be http://192.168.1.1: 80*) Username null/blank with a password of "admin"

That's brought every one back I've ever seen unless the firmware has been totally trashed. If the firmware is dead, you may be able to "unbrick" it using TFTP and a current firmware load. Most are available at Linksys' FTP site.

*Other IP addresses are used by different Linksys models. I've seen: .120-.125, .251 and .254. Make sure you check. If you can't find it in the manual, or aren't sure, run and IP/port scanner.
