I can put this stuff up for the low low price of just a few beers a month...
Yeah, that's exactly the type pf thing I was thinking of; a cooler or a couple of milk -crates worth of stuff. An AP, a 50' coil of Cat5, a couple of tools. Things that are good to have around, but stupid to transport back and forth, at least by air. (Or until can convince my wife to move to LV.)

Gotta disagree on the computer there buddy. I'd recommend people NOT bring a laptop (refer to noid's post).

I'd reccomend a headphone jack splitter. Very convienent for people on long flights, like myself, with friends who have better battery life.

I have some personal experience with the Chaser pills from the original post. I've taken these once before a night of heavy drinking, and had good results. I took 2 at the start of the night, which is not the reccomended dosage (they reccomend a pill every few drinks). I woke up with a slight hangover, and felt great after an hour or so, much quicker than I usually recover. I'd reccomend them to anyone.

us too.. and I will make the offer now for anyone that may need to make use of said spare space; it is open. Anything you need to store (nothing TOO illegal), be it for a week or two until you can make it back out/come up with the monies to have it shipped, or figure "DefCon always need one of THESE" and would like to leave it here for the entire year (much like the kegerator I mentioned in the earlier post) feel free to let me know and I will do my best to make arrangements to get it done.
If I had a nickle for every time someone offered me ten cents to keep my two cents to myself... I would be a rich man.

                    bulky but handy

I found that getting a VCR while staying at AP was very handy to catch up on the talks that I missed due to either being out and about or out cold. I snagged one at a local pawn shop for $20.

I only wish that I could come up with a better solution on that this time around.

I was more interested in the audio clarity than video quality, but LP on VHS is like lookng through monet's specs sometimes... rather psychedelic.

Hmm perhaps instead I could capture the audio in dual mono to a soundcard, 1 lecture track from one tv on each channel (split em later or listen as is to get the full confusion infusion) and record a track to the old 20$ VCR. That would be an easier compromise, although I would of course like to see whats onscreen.

                    rambling.

                    vcr good, no coffee bad
If a chicken and a half, can lay an egg and a half, in a day and a half... how long would it take a monkey, with a wooden leg, to kick the seeds out of a dill pickle?

Get yourself one of these, at 15 inches per second you will get professional quality sound.

I brought a computer with e PVR card but the reception was so bad, I mostly got static and audio for most presentations.

                        reel-to-reel? 15 inches per second? 10am till midnight? 3 tracks? 2.5 days?
                        14+14+7=35 hours x 3 tracks = 105 hours => 378000 seconds ...
                        5670000 inches of tape.
                        ~89.48863636363... miles of tape.

A reel changing monkey would be needed too. :-)

Indeed, from the tracks that I was fortunate enough to capture last year, the audio had terrible grounding issues coming from the lectures. Some of it was difficult to watch, either live or on tape... but ill take what i can get.

At least with what I had last year, with some creative filtering and multiband compression, i was able to get something above the audio quality of a drive thru speaker. heheh

In that case I think $2000 would be a fair price!

                              Bring:

                              a. your laptop
                              b. your wifi card

Oh and I do realise that not all the hotels have this, but that never stopped anyone of you did it? I mean it's Vegas, not Bum F**k Egypt, there WILL be wireless access points, both secure, and unsecure...
