Good IRC for Win and FreeBSD

Just looking for anyones recommendations for IRC apps on Windows and on FreeBSD.

Trillian is popular on Windows, I use mIRC however.

Xchat is pretty good for both...
But I use irssi/screen all the time now, I think its the best out there... for *nix

irssi and xchat here.... running on openbsd and freebsd
i use mirc when i have the misfortune of being in windows

i hear gaim has irc .... i barely can stand the silc plugin so i know irc in gaim would piss me off, ymmv

is there a free version of mIRC? If not I will probably just end up using trillian since its free. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone :)

If I remember correctly, neither mIRC or trillian are free. They both have "free" versions, but you are supposed to pay for them at some point. mIRC I believe, is also much better than trillian.

I like mIRC with NoNameScript myself.

One, because NNS is useful (plenty of shortcuts for boring channel administration tasks, accessing personal game servers - like the one set up by your good buddy Dinky McBluehead - and the like).
Two, because it doesn't advertise its existence every ten seconds like half the scripts out there.
Three, because it leaves out all the useless stuff like server nukes, ping bombs, and TeXt ThAt AuToMaTiCaLlY cHaNgEs CaSe EvErY oThEr LeTtEr! (I f*ing hate that shit - people think it makes them look like an 'ub3r l33t h4x0r', but it just makes them look like an uber clueless wannabe.)

Xchat is about all I ever use (unless I am stuck with nothing but a shell, then it is BitchX). There is a version of xchat for windows as well.. The *nix version is free, the windows version is shareware.

i use xchat on windows, *nix, and now machintosh... to one-up che's link, heres a totally free version of xchat for windows. Their code is gpl'd, so they cant stop you from making your own ;)

I've always been a BitchX user, even in X. The cross-compatible client i suggest is kvirc. Nice interface, bad default skin though. Last time i checked i believe kvirc is included in /usr/ports/irc.
