I enjoyed the idea of the Ms. PacMan and Tetris tourney at DC13, and I think that things of this nature would be a great addition. Could just have for-fun tourneys, with a small prize at the end (Like if someone is crowned "NES Champion" they could get an original NES Controller, or, an NES Deck, if it can be found for cheap). Could do old-gen to current-gen games. There was alot of people around after the talks and all shut down, so it could be in one of the speaking rooms (Probobly the Parthenon, as it's indoor, cool, and central to the whole thing). I'm not sure how the projector systems were setup, but it could be setup where there were two games going on each time (two projectors). I don't know if it goes against alot of what DC is about, but there could even be buy-in tourneys with 50% going to help pay for the Con, then the remaining cash could be split up 30/20/10 style. Not sure, but I think this would draw alot of people. There could not only be Consoles either, but computer gaming too, for those that brought laptops but don't have the skills to be in the CtF. Well, thanks for listening to my idea, and I look foreward to your replies.

As if the con hasn't already moved far enough away from Computers and Security...

there are a lot of gamers at defcon. I'm one of them! honestly i think it would be really fun to have some sort of gaming thing going on after hours. during the talks it would suck because there are always a lot of them that i want to see but end up not having time for. i don't need another distraction from the real con!

On the one hand, I'm personally not interested in playing games that weekend (there is simply too much stuff to do as it stands). On the other hand, it can be a good way to meet people, and it might be more entertaining than the normal visualization/screensavers that everyone seems to project onto the buildings.
I guess what I'm saying is, "If you want to bring games to Defcon, you better have a party in your room to back it up."
