  • Prog to block Admin user?

Is there a programme available that can warn if someone using Admin privileges on a network is logging onto your PC? I'm on a wireless network, and although we have a seperate server where all necessary info is shared, the guy with admin privileges is known to be a snoop, and I'd love to catch him logging onto my personal PC. Any such thing?

The first place to look would be your system logs. Assuming a platform of Windows, check out your Event Viewer / Security. That should show logins on the system, unless this person deletes the logs. Aside from that, if you have concerns about this person snooping, and it's not part of his job/responsibility to ensure the business equipment is used properly, plant some fake information, set it to admin users only, then enable privilege tracking, and see who accesses it. With information like that, you've got a decent amount of evidence to show management.

Again, if "snooping" is this person's job, then your best bet is to use an encrypted container or not do anything questionable at work.

If by "personal" PC you mean the one that the company owns and has assigned to you, don't get too comfy. Every keystroke you make may be logged. At the same time, so may him.

You can get a keycatcher if the keyboard has a ps/2 connector. You can also get some pretty rad software at spectorsoft do com and install it on YOUR pc.

I like the bit of planting info. That can be fun as well. Start commenting that he is up for a big promotion except the president of the company has his doubts, then spread the fact that the president loves bunny rabbits. Watch his cubicle transform into a vomited Easter display.

      I'd take the fun way.

Hi, thanks for feedback. Yes, I realise that since it is a work PC that management is obviously allowed access to it, since it is theirs, and no, there's nothing questionable on it. I just get irritated by the fact that he feels the need to look around on my PC when all the relevant info is readily available on the main server, and I'd love to have found a programme that could warn me in real-time the moment it detected him logging into my PC, so I could go across and say, "Can I help you?". Anyhoo, no big problem, was just interested to see if such a thing existed. Thanks and cheers!

Do you have admin rights on your PC? if so, after he logs on (assume Windows here) he will have a profile. Stick a nice wav file in the Startup folder. Get the one that says, "Hey Everyone! I'm looking at gay porn!" Then set the browser to pop up and have the home page set to "You're the Man, Dog" and set his active desktop wallpaper to a goatse link. Maybe add a tubgirl screensaver that is password protected. Then ask WTF he is doing to your computer.

"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."
