Hacker's view about hackers

what is a hacker?

i'm bother with this question because this current time when you said the word "Hackers" the first thing that comes to our mind is that they are bad guys who just got a unwanted access to your computer and stole everything useful if not destroy your computer system. and for that i want a view or two from you guys of what do you think the real concept of a hacker.
