i like ridiriches last idea. those mini itx boxes and the newer nano itx boards a really small. but i wonder just how good theyd be i real situations where you may need something more powerful. as to the removal of the drives i think i found the best one to use if your a linux user. http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/store/...mnSmallMachine

Well, there are mini ATX boxes already built as well...they are for gaming, one of them is known as The Fragbox. One thing gamers aspire to do is to make thier machines faster...so I have a feeling that whatever software is needed to be run, this little stinker can do it.

looks pretty cool... but i wonder if it's avaialble without all the case modding and light effects. there's a very real chance that i'd have to whack someone in the head with a stale bread loaf if they tried to use a leetboy-pimp system like that around me. (bread leftover from new year's fondue... the only blunt weaponry i have near me at the moment)

ive seen the frag box before but im more interested on wether or not the other mini itx or even the nano itx boards are wotrh the money. i know boards that are getting smaller like this can be prity fast machines but are they really worth the money for playing games like quake4 or fear? but its still an idea for stormforces question. since this thing runs on an operating system contained entierly on the usb key you would effectively be the fastest on makeing it so no one could read the hdd. just remove the key and hide it or stomp on it real hard. with the price of the 512mb key this wouldnt be a very bad idea but kinda costly. but at least you know that nobodys getting to those high security files once its smashed.

I don't use a box...my mobo is on some sponges with all the shit laying around it. I find this gives me faster access since I've developed a hot-swapable CMOS battery.

Destroying a HDD with thermite brings back memories of an episode of "the broken" where Ramzi shows you how to do just that. I know it wasn't the 1337est, but at least they had good bg music for the thermite scene.
