  • .mod music for teh loonix

Every once in a while, there's a piece of software that comes along that really, Really, REALLY makes you happy. Today's find that falls smack into that category was Schism Tracker. It's basically the old Impulse Tracker implemented under Linux, as well as other portable platforms.

Some software is so good that it never needs to be pointlessly improved upon, just ported properly. This is proof of that writ large; what worked in '95 works in oh-five. P2P, eat your heart out.

I like MusE but it is not so old school as bascule or skroo's example
      Did Everquest teach you that?

I was still completely in my windows phase back in the mod days.
I remember mod4win and fast tracker.. One player I had for DOS could select individual sample tracks, and play them at different speeds by pressing alpha keys.

I was surprised a few years ago though when I found that WinAmp had implemented support for mod, xm, it, & s3m.

That fountain.mod doesn't play for me. I tried it in xmms w/ mikmod and in schism. Is it corrupt?

Plays fine in schism for me. BTW, Bascule, that really is a damned good one.

WTF, why do they zip it and then not name it like it is zipped?

Nevermind, I guess if I actually navigate properly to the link instead of doing a save target, THEN it gets a .zip extension.... but the url as given didn't have .zip in the name :(

                That mod sounds nice too.

It's insane, the guy put in samples for the sound of a guitarist shifting his hand up and down the neck...
