I'll be in on Thursday.
Hey man, If I get my food before once everyone is getting up to leave I'll be happy.Originally posted by Deviant Ollam8. an hour and a half later, people start leaving. most will not have had the opportunity to order what THEY want from the kitchen more than once. practically no one has had more than two or three rounds of drinks. everyone sorts out cash and credit card slips, commenting on how delicious and well-prepared the food was, but murmuring slightly that it's unfortunate how little they got.
At Defcon SushiCon Twinvega and I became Sushi hobos eating people's left overs, it was rough. The dude abides.Comment

All other on-point comments aside, does everyone sort out cash and credit card slips? That's news to me, having been one of the few left behind to pick up the economic trash of those who scoot early (read: picking up the bill for free-loaders who are too disrespectful of their "friends" to pay for their own meals).Originally posted by Deviant Ollam8. an hour and a half later, people start leaving. most will not have had the opportunity to order what THEY want from the kitchen more than once. practically no one has had more than two or three rounds of drinks. everyone sorts out cash and credit card slips, commenting on how delicious and well-prepared the food was, but murmuring slightly that it's unfortunate how little they got.
Yes, I agree. Hanging with people one likes is it's own reward. And yes, I agree that it would be nice to have those who have chosen to serve others in a food establishment actually serve appropriately. However, the laws of physics do come into play, and most restaurants have not contingency plans for hitting that lovely point called "critical mass." Whoa! You have given me an idea for a new type of security/contingency service offering! Contingency planning services for food establishments! Especially when there is a CON in town. :-)i'm not saying that this is always what happens at Sushi dinner events. i'm not saying that i have a bad time when we go out like this. hanging with people i like is its own reward. but just once i'd like to sit down with ease, immediately order about a pound and a half of eel, then spend the rest of the time with the servers refilling my glass and bringing me whichever random fish which catch my eye on the menu, as i experiment with some of the more exotic sections on the menu, enjoying everyone else's company.
Enough silliness. Something of this nature really does require some effort in planning, as so many wish to attend. I would be happy to assist in the planning to make it a good event in any way I can be deployed, but I will not be participating in ShmooshiCon. I trust you all will have a wonderful time.Comment

I would totally agree with you, except this restaurant was not at that point. We had booked reservation *weeks* in advance, so they had plenty of time to arrange a backup chef. When we arrived, the place wasn't empty, but it was nowhere near full either. The clusterfuck was entirely because of poor planning on their part. I'd love to do it again, just not there!Originally posted by valkyrieHowever, the laws of physics do come into play, and most restaurants have not contingency plans for hitting that lovely point called "critical mass."the fresh princess of 1338

True, I just was mad because I never even got my freaking soda.Originally posted by cheThat is your own damn fault.. we had to tell them to stop bringing food.. there was tons to go around.
In retrospect, if we hadn't have gotten lost on the way there everything would have probably worked out fine.

I hope to be going... but twinvega and ck3k need to get their lazy asses going on plans.
I'm excited, shmoocon seems like a good con from what people said about last year.. and shmoo's style is perfect. The talks look very cool too.The only constant in the universe is change itselfComment

When we make reservations, do we need to ask specifically for shmoocon rate or ?Originally posted by rendermanThose of you who are'nt sure if your going, the cheaper rates at the hotel are only available till December 12th.======================================
