      Still, new Jeep suspension, a Colt 1911, and a dual AMD64 machine would've been nice.

      I enjoy talking to myself...it's usually the only intelligent conversations I get to have.

        I won't get into the specifics, but the seating arrangements at the table were more or less as follows:

        Code:
                      Kennedy-era    Kennedy-era    91-Year-Old
                        Liberal        Liberal      Relative(1)
                 [=================================================]
                 |                                                 |
          Host   |                                                 |  Host
        (Husband)|                                                 | (Wife)
                 |                                                 |
                 [=================================================]
                         Me          Frenchwoman    Kennedy-era
                      (I rule)           (2)          Liberal(3)
        Now that you know what the playing field looks like, some notes on the combatants:

        (1) The 91-Year-Old relative is the mother of the wife hosting the dinner.

        (2) The Frenchwoman is a hoot. Her parents met during WWII when both were in the Resistance blowing up anything they could find belonging to the Germans in occupied France. She just got her US citizenship, and is fond of using phrases like 'shoot the bastards' and 'bullets are cheaper than rope'. Had there been more of her sort during the war, there never would've been a Vichy government.

        The topic was the electoral college and why we should keep it. Not wanting to rehash the argument here, I'll just add that (3) got royally dressed down for his lack of understanding of how the government actually works in this country by (1), who had no problems pointing out to him that as a journalist he would probably do well to improve his understanding of the topics he writes about. Watching a nonagenarian tear him down bit by bit... Priceless.

        It was easily the best dinner-table debate I've had in I don't know how many years. Lotsa fun.

          Skroo, that sounds fantastic! You needed a video camera.

            Seriously, I can't even begin to describe how much fun it was. I honestly had to go outside for a cigarette at one stage because I realised that I was already picking my next flamebait and didn't want to offend our hosts (who, apart from being old friends of the family, had been good sports about the whole thing and remained neutral throughout but didn't stop us talking). Best Christmas dinner evar.

                  Funny, a girl I know said her guy was three sizes too small.

                    Dude...that was ME! Small world..... She laughed and said I had a small organ. I told her I wasn't counting on playing in a cathedral. I met her in a bar...and used the direct approach... just walked right up and said " I'd like a little pussy!" She said..."me too. Mines big as a hat." Tell her "hi" for me.

                    By the way...a guy ask me how to be a hacker....I told him to start smoking.

                    What?? this isn't the Tookie Williams tribute forum? I though it was short for Def COMedy jam.....where's Russel Simmons by the way.

                          Knowing my Jeep wasn't the only one with problems WAS my christmas gift. (other than fiber token-ring equipment)

                            Well from family members I got food, gift cards, and clothing. Now what blew my mind is what my friends got me..

                            They all chipped in together, and new years night we exchanged gifts, and I got this little box. I had no clue what they had found, and everyone says Im impossible to buy for.

                            I open it up and its one of those IO binary watches. It deffinately topped everything else I got. Whats more amazing is these friends arent the ones
                            I know for any reason related to computers. Now my friends who are in the PC circle were also blown away by the gift (both because of the thought put into it, and the cost of the item). Im all about getting people something they can use, or something they want.

                            Just made me realize how well my friends know me.

                              Well, I find it odd that this thread is still alive in mid-January, but here goes-

                              (I'll just put the tech-related stuff here)
                              My computer was shipped from WA. I recently moved from there, but the computer had to stay in storage. Shipping it over 3000 miles was an unexpected and very exciting Christmas gift.

                              I also got a 19" widescreen flat-panel monitor made by Acer. Haha, I think this was one of my best gifts in a while.
                              Every signature I can think of at the moment is completely moronic. (the irony)
