First, AFAIK, there is no, public, all-year, official, DefCon-only IRC Server.

I have been told that certain DefCon Groups hold their own IRC channels on different IRC Server networks. You can check with your local DefCon Usergroup to see if they have their own channel, and ask them what network they use.

If you can't find an IRC Server Network and channel that you like, you can always check out the mailing list:
DC-Stuff is mentioned here, on the DefCon website. Sure, a mailing list is often not as fast-paced as an irc channel, but it is an alternative.

First you will need to fill out an Add/Drop card and then get another mod to sign it. I am just a TA that helps to correct papers as requested.

In order to get mod approval, I think you must perform some sort of ritual activity requiring knee pads. If you are unskilled in such rituals, I think they may accept donations of alcohol instead.
