there's an interesting Reuters news piece about public speaking. hmm, with what this study has revealed concerning the calming of one's nerves before a public event, maybe i will have to rethink my choice of not speaking at defcon this year. heh, this research would also lend legitimacy to the idea of staffing the speaker ready room with scene whores willing to contribute their time and energy in the interest of making defcon presentations as good as they can be.

"I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

That would be some mighty interesting fine print on the call for papers/speakers.

That could start a whole new trend:
"Hey! Can I borrow your speaker badge? Oh? How about $10?"

If you attended shmoocon 06, you learned as much as you could handle about speaking.

I'm wondering if this news story might be grounds enough to convince the IRS that I have a legitimate reason to expense escort services on my corporate taxes.
