Below is an email formulated and ready for delivery to Blackbeetle. TBBQ organizers and critics, please rip this up and comment for changes.. speak now or forever hold your pi.

    ---
Greetings Blackbeetle. Not sure if this is warrented (per the 'Contest Organizers' thread on the forums), but here is the info for this years ToxicBBQ for any website/program inclusion desired.

    1) ToxicBBQ Three
    2) http://www.toxicbbq.com
    3) Rain be damned! The Unofficial Defcon 14 Toxic BBQ will be held for
its third consecutive year on Thursday, August 3rd from 18:00:00 until
the event dies out. Details of the TBBQ's location can be found at
http://www.toxicbbq.com. Last year some rumors spread that the BBQ
was cancelled due to rain... right.. we bet Defcon was cancelled too. This
year will resume the pre-BBQ food run and other rituals from the last two
TBBQs. Email info [at] toxicbbq.com with questions or suggestions, or sign
on to the Defcon Forums and help plan this years event.

Should be "its third consecutive year." The rest looks good to me.

Map links provide incorrect starting address (AP instead of RHaC). Suggest updating google map directions to This and for mapquest, use this.

[smartass]"Less than 10 minutes from the Alexis Park" may be true, but time from the Riviera might be more helpful.[/smartass] ]:> (heh-heh)

The use of link color as dark blue on a black background makes links hard to read.

Instead of, or in addition to the link to the forums, a link to the TBBQ subforum might be a good idea:
        https://forum.defcon.org/forumdisplay.php?f=74

With the section about the teeShirt, I might be pointing out the obvious, but, maybe there should be some statement about letting people know about their intention to do this on the forums so that we minimize risk of duplicates. (Not a likely problem, since nearly anyone that might do this is probably on the forums, but worthy of mention.)

--updated text above to reorg wording of "consecutive"

--updated tbbq site to correct locale of this years hotel
          --removed "10 minutes from" tagline
--brightened the blue in use, I had previously carried over green colors .. Am I the only person on this earth without the daunting task of deciphering blue on black?
--updated forums link to shoot folks directly into the TBBQ forums
--updated thsirt section to prod folks into letting us know if they're making shirts

--added tbbq to my own calendar of events being pushed and pimped here

Excellent suggestions folks! Keep em coming.

Well... you asked for it, and in the interest of letting you edit your own work, here are my very nitpicky suggestions. Remember, I really like it, I just have an anal grammar and spelling bug up my butt (it's very painful, thus I must make others suffer as well).

Apologies if I kibitz on something that is correct and has been decided on in a TBBQ thread somewhere.

has been cancelled ...do to rain?
            s/do/due/

            costco/winco/sams equivelant
You could just leave it at "Sam's," but you should definitely spell "equivelant" as "equivalent."

Please keep help out with planning and ideas on the TBBQ [on] Defcon Forums,
"keep help out?" But I thought you *wanted* help! :)

            Where in Sunset Park?:
My inner grammar nazi says to remove the colon. It is unholy and perverted to have something else rubbing up against a colon in such a manner.

The organizers and those wishing to help supply the BBQ will meet at the Alexis Park lobby at 15:00:00 on Thursday to head off for a supplies trip.
Hrm, either a change didn't take or you missed an AP reference. Or will be meeting at the AP anyways? Should be changed or a line added confirming you really meant the AP.

head off for a supplies trip. If you are not their
            s/their/there/

with a handful of folk returning to the Alexis to "meet/greet/direct folks to their destination around 17:30:00"
Again, should be changed or ammended.

            - please be concious that you are in the heat conditions of Vegas and liquidate appropriately. If you need a helping hand, ask. If you are a destructive ass, you will be dealt with accordingly.. no one wants that.
Excellent advisory, but I would remind people that caffienated and alcoholic drinks *cause* dehydration. Also, if you wanted to be thorough, you might link to a page that tells you how to recognize the symptoms of heat exhaustion. I didn't know what was happening and got heat exhaustion in spite of taking great care to hydrate properly.

goon appreciation - last year leftovers were gathered and sent to starving goons hell bent on making sure that Defcon would start without a hitch, in the middle of considerable challenges. They rock, don't forget em.
w00t! Might ask people to bring extra tinfoil/paperplates/boxes to transport leftovers.
It was tricky getting enough materials at TBBQ1.

pick my nose and get all the crusties out
You missed one, and you have something in your beard.

hah! <insert your own anal sex joke here> heh, if we were talking about this on IRC, i think that would have merited becoming a channel topic for a while.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

It wouldn't be the first time I've been quoted outside of channel. It is both a blessing and a curse to be a grammar nazi. Everytime I read someone's personal writing I have to bite my tongue and if they *ask* for a critique... feel guilty.

Just to be an ass, regarding "Riviera lobby," we may have to refine this a little. Do we have it confirmed that there IS a lobby in the main building of the Riviera? Also, the folks with Defcon rates will largely be housed in the two big towers, we could also meet in one of those, depending on if they have a nice lobby. We could use input from one of the scouters. With such a large (and new) place, being very specific is good.

Also, you still have crusties in your nose and a bit of parmesan in your beard.

There are a couple of lobby/entrances by the con are: One in the path from the hotel area to the general convetion area (http://23b.org/gallery/tacitus_defcon14recon/aba).

A second entrance area closer to where Defcon will be held (http://23b.org/gallery/RivieraRecon/aab)

Entrance 1 is down the hall towards the pool/casino from entrance 2 by a few hundred feet (another convention area worth of hallway)- Entrance 2 is closer to what we believe to be the con area- but entrance 1 is a larger area and has a more prominent "Internet Center and More" landmark vs. "Staircase, Counter and door by con area". Both these entrances are close to self park areas.

                      Map of convetion hall: http://www.rivierahotel.com/images/conventionmap.gif

Location 1 is on far left of map Foyer
Loaction 2 is in center of map near Kitchen/restrooms
As far as we can tell, defcon is in the Royale Pavilion

Very good, perhaps we can specify the first entrance then, so people know exactly where to be. Even if they get rid of the computers in the Internet center, it looks like the sign will still be there.

Sure why not, it rained on the cows when they were alive!

Lightning strikes may also be a faster BBQ method.
