Sorry, For my crapy post. I was just blabering because I get really bored at work. I will spare you from my boredom. I am just rude I guess. I am glad I was able to help people become more stupider :) If you ever feel the need to drop your IQ points for whatever reason. Just let me know.
The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments.
They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, he said. They're freeing your soul. So, if you're frightened of dying and... and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth.

Well this isn't at all the way I thought this would go when I posted this thread. I'm kinda sorry for making it.

P.S.- where the hell did that poll come from?

The topic could have been a good one, it is just a matter of where users decided to drive it that caused it to go downhill into a mudpuddle and sink into quicksand. You cited a source, and had a topic for discussion.

Mods can add a poll to any thread, after-the-fact, and edit poll text, or add new items.
(Good to know if you forgot to include something in a poll, or find a problem with a poll.)

I did not add the poll, but I *did* add this line to the list of selections for voting:
"No. I've read everything in /dev/null and Fucktard Hall, and this isn't even Top-10"

Thank you forclearing that up CotMan.

By the way, your line seems to be the most popular.

Makes me curious how many of them really have read every /dev/null post. I'm so lucky, I can claim reading that crap over twice! Some entertaining junk in there.
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

Well, I've never used Linux (yes I have, but 3 hours doesn't count).
                  Linux(debian) seems quite good.
A little confusing, but good and stable.
I have been using a windows 2k box the last 2 years, and it's great. It never crashes, have a lot of exciting features and - rocks.

A month ago I bought a new box (with everything included): WINDOWS XP.

An hour after I turned it on, it crashed.
A couple of hours after I got it up running again, it crashed.
Two days after the two crashes, something fucked up with my "TCP/IP Protocol".
Some of you guys can maybe name the faenomen - and fix it - but I wasn't able...
[Here comes the great thing about WinXP] _System_Recovery_!
(Which basically means that when I fuck something up, and I would be really screwed on win2k, I just press the system recovery button, and restores the system to condition: normal.

This post has shitty layout. Sorry. It's early in the morning, it's easter, and I'm not a native english speaker.

It seems as if you didn't learn anything from this thread.
I don't even know where to begin there's so many points to make and not a lot you can backup because someone ELSE has X experiance for Y product. Its really about the concepts of the OS design. Clearly moving from 9x to NT is going to improve things.. thats a clear example of stability and security. but there's so many tangents and everyone has opinions. RedHat Vs SuSE, 2k vs XP... bla bla bla.
Look at the philosphy of the OS, look at how memory is handled and kernel/driver/priv. seperation etc..
I doubt very few people on these forums are qualified to clearly, accurattly and justly have a debate on this. Just because your windows 2k box never crashed while browsing teh interweb, or your linux box has an uptime of X days... it really doesn't prove anything. You've gotta look at a large sample, you've gotta look at things above just your experiance level and think about the big picture.

edit: Someone please close this thread soon. Skroo's picture is a thousand words I don't have to argue.
