i second a notion that renderman had... the forums can be a really useful bank of knowledge (planning and logistics, records of final decisions on things, etc) and are nice to reference if needed. but if there was a way to lock them from any postings perhaps... that would be a plus methinks."I'll admit I had an OiNK account and frequented it quite often… What made OiNK a great place was that it was like the world's greatest record store… iTunes kind of feels like Sam Goody to me. I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

If I brought a computer, and the forums were open, I would probably log in once a day to make sure they were running.
If I don't bring a computer, I won't be logging into them. (We'll have backups and will be able to restore them post-con if for some reason they crash and burn.)
If it is decided the forums will be closed, but available, I won't bring a computer.Comment

Maybe. I have always taken a box out there, mainly due to the wireless competition. I'm not doing that this year, so I shouldn't need one, but I probably will have a system for whatever reason. That being said, if I do get onto the forums it will be very little.Aut disce aut discedeComment

I've never logged into the forums at Defcon. It may be for that reason that I'm always late to the forums meets. Or it could be because I got high....45 5F E1 04 22 CA 29 C4 93 3F 95 05 2B 79 2A B0

Sure
If I get a chance I'll check in to see what is going on. I like the idea of it being up and functional incase people want to post links or news about contests, etc.PGP Key: https://defcon.org/html/links/dtangent.htmlComment

Personally I have found out having exchanged cell numbers to ones one wants to hang around with is useful at a con.
For instance, last years toxic bbq could've been much smaller if we didn't report back to others via sms that it was still on.
I suggest to those with cell phones to exchange any updated cell numbers to those who they want to do things with prior to the festivities. It's fast, convenient and doesn't require a laptop.
I think this qualifies as my 1 post for the yearComment
